Write to support@kalme.app. A real person reads it. If something in the app is broken, tell us which iPhone you have and what you were doing, it saves a round trip.
Is Kalme a medical device?
No. Kalme is a wellness and education app. It is not a medical device, it gives no medical advice, and it does not replace a doctor, an ENT or an audiologist. The questionnaire is based on the THI, a published questionnaire used in clinics, but the number it gives you is a way to follow your own change over time, not a medical opinion. See the Legal Notice.
When should I see a doctor first?
See an ENT if your tinnitus is in one ear only, if it pulses with your heartbeat, if it started suddenly, or if it comes with hearing loss, dizziness, ear pain or a head injury. Those deserve a real appointment, and a daily program is not the right answer for them. Kalme will tell you the same thing during setup.
What actually happens in the 8 weeks?
Every day takes about ten minutes: a short lesson about how tinnitus works and why it gets louder in quiet rooms, one guided exercise, and one sound practice. You also answer a two-tap check-in. After the eight weeks there is a lighter maintenance phase, and you keep your sound and your tools.
How does the sound work?
You match your own pitch in the app, and Kalme builds a background sound around that frequency. You set it a bit quieter than your tinnitus, so you still hear both. There is also a library of soft sounds for falling asleep and for the evenings when it feels loud.
How long before I notice something?
Habituation is slow and it is cumulative. The program runs over eight weeks for that reason. What the app shows you is your own trend, from your own check-ins, and it is not a promise. Individual results vary, and one loud day never undoes weeks of work.
What is "Talk to the cloud"?
An AI companion inside the app, for the evenings when it feels loud and you do not want to wake anyone. It is an AI companion, not a doctor: it gives no medical advice, it points you to an ENT when something needs an appointment, and it gives you crisis numbers if you are in distress. Before your first message you choose whether it can read your program context or only your messages. It is optional and the rest of the app works without it.
Does the app record me?
No. The microphone is used for one thing only: a few-second reading of how loud the room is, so the app can suggest a volume. Nothing is recorded, nothing is stored, nothing leaves your phone. If you refuse the permission, the rest of the app works the same.
How do I cancel my subscription?
In your Apple account, not in Kalme: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Kalme, Cancel. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. If you are in the 7-day free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
I paid but the app says I am not subscribed
Tap Restore purchases on the purchase screen or in Settings, with the same Apple ID you bought with. If it still does not unlock, email us, and do not buy twice.
How do I delete my data?
Settings, Delete account, inside the app. It removes your profile, your assessment, your check-ins, your program history and your conversations, on our servers and on your phone. It is immediate and it cannot be undone.
Does it work offline?
Yes, for the part that matters. The daily session, the sounds and the check-in run on your phone. Your history syncs to your account when you are back online, so it survives a phone change. The chat needs a connection.
Will anyone see what I log?
No. Kalme has no social features, no sharing and no ads by design, and nothing is sold to anyone. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Is there an Android version?
Not today. Kalme is iOS only. If you want to be told when that changes, email us and we will keep your address for that and nothing else.
